Okana aims to show the talents and cocktail culture, wines & spirits through our experiences. We are also committed to valuing African terroirs with our African Mixology creations by transforming quality ingredients, using innovative & traditional techniques and working with passionate and invested people.
Okana – which means spirits in Manjak – was created by entrepreneur Bénédicte Mendy. She discovers the world of cocktails and bartending while studying in Singapore. Curious and passionate about traveling, she took several stays in Europe, Africa and Asia to enrich her knowledge of culinary heritages and traditions of spirits but it is her road trip across West Africa that was a revelation. She discovered diversity, rich cultures, gastronomies in the countries she visited. Hence arised her desire to value African terroirs through her creations. She graduated from business school and oenology and worked several years in business and marketing development for wine and spirits brands, then in distillation before starting her company in 2016 in Abidjan. The same year, she was distinguished with Okana, “best bartender of Ivory Coast” by winning Marie Brizard Masters bartending competition.
